The treasure has been found!

Who found it? currently unknown, but a scammer named Y on discord keeps claiming their son/husband pair found it, but the location they claimed has been debunked by Jason

Winner? Reach out to me if you’re up for an interview to discuss how you did this!

Update as of 10/7/2024

  • The hunt is still on! Sort of. The treasure has been found, but the $87k bounty hasn’t been claimed yet! Details currently are sparse, but the treasure contained the keys to decoding and unlocking the bounty. The winner of the contest has been interview and allowed photos of the object to be posted online. People are scrambling to try to unlock the codes and access the bounty. More details to be provided!

Update as of 10/2/2024

  • A guy who claims to be a meteorologist from Boston is said to have found it
  • He apparently isn’t interested in the bounty $$$
  • Someone DDOS’d the project website today
  • There’s a 2nd place prize available, $100, for the first 20 people who submit the exact coordinates of where the object was.
  • More to come

Shorter Time Lapse from Project Skydrop thru 10/1/2024

Here’s the final compiled, faster, timelapse from Project Skydrop, I may post more edits later, but not currently planning on it.

Questions about the winner

Everyone has a lot of questions, here are some of them:

  • Where was this found? (currently unknown, not confirmed)
  • Who found the treasure? Also unknown not confirmed in any official or verifiable way.
  • How did they find Project Skydrop?

Consipirary Theories

Some of you have some wacky theories as to this, here are some of them:

  • The winner used an airplane to map the area and located the item based on that mapping
  • The winner was a friend of Jason’s
  • The object was only feet from a road
  • A meteorologist from Boston found it

What is Project Skydrop?

In short, a treasure hunt. Two guys out of the North East have put a one of a kind gold treasure on the forest floor somewhere in a 500 mile circle. You’ve got the opportunity to find a $26k gold treasure by finding where they hid it on public lands somewhere in the north east. Each day there are two clues posted online, 1 for the public, and 1 for paying members.

What are the clues for Project Skydrop?

The treasure hunt is pretty simple, here’s a run down of what we know so far. There are two sets of clues.

  • There’s a map that shrinks each day, it started on September 19th with a 500 mile circle and shrinks each day. By the final day (3 weeks) I believe it should be a 1 foot circle, someone will have found it by then (guess).
    • The center of the circle is not fixed, each day has been different.
  • For project skydrop members there is a daily drone shot that is higher and higher each day, giving you a better view of the surrounding area.

When do daily clues drop?

  • The circle changes size at 9am eastern time daily.
  • The daily drone images start going out at 9am daily, that being said, the earlier you signed up for Project Skydrop the earlier you get your clue. I signed up a couple of days late and don’t get a clue until after 1pm central. (9/27/2024 I received the clue just after 10am central) (10/1 I received my clue before 9am central)

Known facts about Project Skydrop (believed to be true by me)

  • The item will be found on public land
  • There is no fee to access said land
  • No trespassing necessary to retrieve gold
  • There’s a live feed of the treasure that updates every 15 minutes (found on the website for all to see)
  • There are other cameras around the object, but their feeds are not shared (see the cameras that are available)
  • While there is text and symbols on the treasure, they are not clues/hints to decipher to find its location. Ultimately they will be used to get access to the bitcoin wallet with the bounty, but only for the winner.
  • The treasure is unlikely to be found by a person just hiking a public trail, you will need to be looking off trail for this.
  • No trail fees or parking fees at the location you will find the object (from a Discord message from Tom)
  • The Bitcoin wallet is currently empty, it’ll get filled once the object is found.
  • One camera is running on Verizon network, one camera is running on AT&T network.
  • One camera is up high in the sun, one is low in the shade
  • The circle updates at 9am eastern time each day

Mostly agreed upon almost facts

Ideas for investigation

  • If you flew a drone at night, could you spot the IR from the game cameras setup?
  • Have access to an aerial mapping business? Looks like someone might be out in an airplane the past couple of days mapping out the circle… Or it could be soemthing completely unrelated.

Tips for locating the treasure

  1. Get online - join the adventure for $20 via their website, get daily clues from them
  2. Get outside - you won’t find it inside
  3. Hike, walk, look - Get out of your comfort zone, get outside, hike, look around, see what you can find!
  4. Combine the shrinking circle with the daily drone shot to try to figure out your best guess as to where the treasure is and get outside to look for it!

How do I get more clues?

You’ve gotta sign up for the treasure hunt to get more clues daily from the website! Unfortunately the day you sign up you miss a clue (if you sign up after 9am eastern time) you won’t get that day’s clue until the next day. You’ll also get the next day’s clue later in the day on your day 2.

How many people have paid to be Project Skydrop members?

The best guess right now is to take the current bounty found on ProjectSkydrop.com, subtract $1090 (the initial amount seeded by the founders) and then divide by 10.

Example: 28,190.00 - 1090.00 / 10 = 2,710 current members as of 3:04pm central time on 9/25/2024. Example: 47,310.00 - 1090.00 / 10 = 4,622 current members as of 8:45am central time on 9/27/2024.

How to claim your prize

You need to record a video of yourself finding/picking up the treasure!

Other questions about Project Skydrop

  • How far from a trail is the treasure?
  • Is it possible someone not looking for the treasure will stumble upon it?
  • Might an animal take a shiny object and run away with it?
  • How high is the drone picture taken from each day? (unknown, random theories currently about it, but nothing solid)
  • What time of day were the drone photos taken?
  • How can I get higher resolution images from satellite maps?
  • Are the camera temperatures accurate?

Will there be more Project Skydrop treasure hunts?

Word from the maker is Possibly, if this one is successful!

When did Project Skydrop start?

The treasure hunt started on September 19th, 2024

When will Project Skydrop end?

Whenever the treasure is found! It should end in three weeks or less from 9/19/2024, so by/before Thursday October 10th, 2024.

Where is Project Skydrop?

Somewhere in the north east, as of right now the map points to New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire. It will be found somewhere inside of that circle. The circle as of this morning is 75 miles and still covers those same states!

What do you win?

A one of a kind gold statue worth over $26k based on the price of gold today, as well as a bounty which will be distributed via a bitcoin wallet that is worth close to $27k! The more people that enter, the more the bounty will be.

Fake info about Project Skydrop

If you’re partaking in the discord channel dedicated to members of the hunt, you’ll likely see a lot of fake info. You might find some of this information elsewhere on the internet as well. Here’s some of the false news so far.

  • Someone has already found the treasure and is camping near it just waiting for the bounty/pot to grow
  • The treasure doesn’t really exist, all the images are AI generated
  • People are apparently very afraid of the woods and think they’ll get attacked by a bear, or by humans. Be careful, but don’t be scared.
  • The mention of Whistler’s Mother continues to come up and be debunked
  • Someone keeps claiming their husband and son are camping right by the prize waiting for the price of the bounty to go up… Lies

Who am I?

So who am I? I’m just a guy near St. Louis Missouri who wishes I was up in Massachusetts this week! I am not going to be actively searching for the treasure in person, but will live vicariously through all that do!

If you find it, and I helped you in any way, let me know!
